I said last time that I’d finally been able to write a short blog post about a Feast, because I’d reached a point of having said it all before. Exhibit A: all my previous Feast posts. That’s again the case with the March edition, and this is really the highest compliment I can give to the event: they are just consistently blissful.
But there are a couple of additional reasons I’m resisting the temptation to add to the many thousands of words I’ve previously written about the beautiful dancing and wonderful warmth of the atmosphere …
One is simply that I have a fair bit going on in my life on other fronts (most of it good), and the other is a switch in creative focus for a while.
I created my tango micro documentary a couple of years ago, and really loved doing so. It was just a joy to listen to people talk about, well, tango, of course – but also just about something they love.
People kept asking me what I was going to do next and I didn’t initially have an answer. But I did eventually figure out that people talking about things they love was going to be a common theme. That led to my second ‘formal’ video project – an interview about dance, mental health and … feet.
I’ve recently completed a third, answering what I think we can all agree are two of life’s most fundamental questions. What do dance, sunrises and Pentonville prison have in common? And how does that lead to groups of strangers meeting in pubs to have deep (and fun!) conversations?

That video will go online next week. If it sounds interesting, hit the subscribe link here to be notified when it goes live on the 24th.
There’s a strong tango focus to my next couple of moves on the video front. First, as people have expressed appreciation for the festival taster videos, I’m going to dig back into past footage to see whether I can create more of these for both other festivals and milongas.
Second, I’ve filmed quite a few performances over the years (admittedly mostly to give me something to do while waiting for them to Get Off My Floor).
I’ve so far only put one of those online, Sigrid Van Tilbeurgh & Maria Filali dancing at last year’s Sheffield Tango Festival – which was so wonderful not even I could be grumpy about it!
I’m now going to dig out the rest to create a playlist of these. I’ll be crowdsourcing identification of the performers …
If either of these appeal, then again hit the subscribe link to be notified about uploads.
In the meantime, here’s your March Feast taster …
